These moms work together The Windsor Park resident works out of her house. She's a stay-at-home mom and artist. Hundreds of people have hired her company, Baby Belle's Room, to hand-paint custom wooden letters which now hang on the walls of their children's rooms. Last year, Rachel and three fellow stay-at-home moms who operate at-home businesses decided to market their wares together under the umbrella of one organization: "Unique and Chic...the traveling boutique!" "In no time, the idea grew into pooling all kinds of resources to be able to accomplish more as a group than any of us could individually," Rachel says. Today, more than 50 vendors have joined the venture hoping to capitalize on creative company. "Unique and Chic...the traveling boutique!" features everything from fine arts and crafts to the latest in children's clothing and accessories, home décor, handcrafted jewelry, handmade and hand-painted Christmas ornaments, homemade baked goods and more. "We especially tout our artisans of handmade, hand-painted and otherwise handcrafted products," says Rachel, who's gearing up for the company's upcoming Christmas Open House on Dec. 10. "We're constantly on the lookout for the most unique and most chic vendors to be a part of our open houses." Amanda Hulsey joined the group in December of last year. The Fort Benning mom has been an independent consultant for Tastefully Simple Gourmet Foods for three years. She says her business really started to boom once she joined forces with other entrepreneurs. "This group of vendors is very important to me," Amanda says. "We all share business tips and success stories. Although we all have our own businesses, instead of competing with each other, we seem to compete for each other." Rachel says every dollar a vendor contributes to "Unique and Chic...the traveling boutique!" helps promote events the organization participates in. Whether it's an online advertisement or a direct mail postcard, Rachel says marketing the organization's massive membership is the key to its success. "I couldn't be happier with the response we've gotten from our vendors" says Rachel. "The point in founding the organization has always been, 'Why work alone when we can work smarter together?'" ![]() Rachel Wilcox hand-paints a custom holiday ornament in her home studio. She's not only know around town for her work; Rachel has shipped her products to people around the world. Her business, called Baby Belle's Room, is named after her 2-year-old daughter, Cora Belle.
